Onimusha: Way of the Sword Weapons and Oni Armaments

See the confirmed sword, Oni Bow and six gauge Armaments, why Oni Armory counts seven, where each is found, launch-period upgrades and situational uses.

Quick answer

The confirmed combat-tool structure is one always-equipped Sword/Katana, one independent Oni Bow, and six gauge-based Oni Armaments: The Two Celestials, Wind-Whipper, Earth-Shakers, Firebird Flute, The Flashing Void and Still Water. “Oni Armory: 7” means the Bow plus those six; “Wielder of Oni Armaments” uses the six-item gauge set.

Last checked: September 8, 2026. Upgrade costs and carryover notes use launch-period evidence with no identified build.

Still WaterSword-enhancement state; northeast Swamp of Arashiyama chestOptional, late-gameKatana pressure, Purple Souls and Golden Wave

Still Water is a main-sword enhancement state, not a permanent replacement moveset. The Oni Bow is part of the seven-item collectible check but remains separate from the six Oni Power Gauge Armaments.

Low-miss collection route

  1. Follow the story for the Oni Bow, The Two Celestials and Wind-Whipper.
  2. Check the Underground Laboratory L4, Gojo Street Rift site, Mount Oe Castle Courtyard cave and northeast Swamp of Arashiyama for the four optional chests.
  3. Before entering The Clash at Rendaino, verify the Bow plus all six Armaments and keep a manual save.

The four optional chests can be passed on the first visit. Evidence supports cleanup before the PNR and Continue after completion; it does not establish Chapter Select.

The Sword uses five Proficiency tiers. The detailed launch guide begins Proficiency 1 at level 1, then uses Whetstones, Iron, Tempered Iron and Tamahagane through its sublevels. Unlock costs recorded for Proficiencies 2–5 are, respectively: 1 Iron + 1 Tempered Iron + 2 Tamahagane; 2 Iron + 2 Tempered Iron + 3 Tamahagane; 2 Iron + 2 Tempered Iron + 4 Tamahagane; and 2 Whetstones + 2 Iron + 2 Tempered Iron + 1 Tamahagane.

These costs are partly single-source launch data and must be rechecked after balance patches. Refund or reset behavior was not found; do not assume an investment is reversible.

Weapons in New Game Plus

IGN narration says the six Armaments carry into Carnage NG+, while the Oni Bow must be reacquired through the story. The opening UI did not independently prove that every Armament is selectable immediately. Keep this as partial carryover evidence and use the New Game Plus guide for reset boundaries.

Edition swords and cosmetic appearances

Sealed Curse, White Lion, Bamboo & Panda, Whittled Oar, Raizan and Enryuu are verified Sword Appearances; Crimson Lotus is a Gauntlet Appearance. Official product information says these do not change combat performance, so none adds to the weapon count.

IGN only confirms a new sword skin after Carnage. “Bishamon Sword” and a possible Issen effect come from one community lead and remain unconfirmed; they are excluded from the confirmed list.

Is Bishamon Sword confirmed?

No. The name and claimed effect remain a community lead without official or second UI confirmation.
