Onimusha: Way of the Sword on Nintendo Switch 2

Check Switch 2 release status, Game-Key Card rules, regional 31.9–34GB storage, 1080p/900p output, launch performance, features and cloud-save limits.

Quick answer

The Nintendo Switch 2 version released on September 4, 2026. Digital editions and verified physical Game-Key Card SKUs exist. Regional storage fields were around 31.9–34 GB, with Capcom recommending at least 34 GB free. Official output is listed as 1080p in TV mode and 900p handheld/tabletop; a Digital Foundry launch sample found a generally stable 30 fps cap and an unlocked mode varying around 30–60 fps.

Last checked: September 8, 2026. Store fields are regional and performance is a launch-version sample, not a future-patch guarantee.

Digital and physical editions

Digital product pages list Standard, Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions in several regions. Verified physical SKUs include Japan Standard and Premium Deluxe, plus US Standard and SteelBook Game-Key Cards.

Do not transfer one region's edition mix or price to another. The earlier September 25 date is historical and was replaced by September 4.

How the Game-Key Card works

  1. Insert the card and prepare at least about 34 GB of system memory or microSD Express storage.
  2. Connect online for the first launch on that Switch 2 and download the full game data.
  3. After download, the same console can launch offline while the card remains inserted and the data remains installed.
  4. When moving the card to another Switch 2, connect that console and complete its first download.

The Game-Key Card does not contain the complete game data. It is not a download code, and you cannot remove it after installation and still launch the game.

Download and save storage

Official regional game fields ranged from about 31.9 to 34 GB, and Capcom recommends at least 34 GB free. This is a regional range, not one global exact download size. Save data separately requires more than 56 MB according to the checked support information.

Output and launch performance

ContextOfficial video outputObserved internal renderingObserved frame rate
TV / docked, fixed mode1080pDynamic sample from about 1080p toward 720p or lower30 fps cap, generally stable in sample
TV / docked, unlocked1080pSame launch-sample boundaryApproximately 30–60 fps, not locked
Handheld / tabletop900pObserved ceiling around 900p; dynamic behavior variesFixed and unlocked paths exist in sample context

Output resolution is not the same as fixed native internal rendering. Choose the capped mode for the sample's steadier frame-time behavior, or test unlocked if you prefer higher momentary response and accept fluctuation.

Language evidence

Regional Nintendo pages list English, Japanese and several European and Asian languages. The Brazil listing explicitly names Simplified and Traditional Chinese. That does not prove every imported physical SKU has the same voice, subtitle or DLC-region behavior. For platform-by-platform text and voice evidence, see the Chinese support guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is the physical edition a full game card?

No. The checked physical releases use a Game-Key Card and require the game-data download.

Can it work offline after installation?

Yes on the same console under the documented rule, with downloaded data present and the card inserted. Another console needs its own first online download.

Does it run at 60 fps?

The unlocked mode varied around 30–60 fps in a launch sample. It is not a locked 60 fps mode or official guarantee.

Is 1080p the native resolution?

No such guarantee is established. 1080p is the official TV output field; internal rendering was dynamic in testing.

Does it support cross-save?

Save Data Cloud is supported with paid Nintendo Switch Online. Cross-platform saves were not found in the checked first-party evidence.
